One of the reasons to visit Novgorod-Siverskyi is to get firsthand view of ancient literature masterpiece “The Lay of Igor’s Warfare”.
The main storyline of the work is a campaign of Novgorod-Siverskyi Prince Igor against Polovtsian that is a real historical fact. Discovered more then 200 years ago the masterpiece still keeps many secrets and mysteries.
The museum was founded in 1990 as the first state institution in Ukraine studying the “The Lay of Igor’s Warfare”. The exhibition includes former through present day editions of the monument, its translations into foreign languages; archaeological finds of Kievan Rus’ period; image and works of art, sculpture, etc.
The museum is a part of the reserve of the same name. The basis of the reserve is located in the Transfiguration Monastery founded in the eleventh century. From that times brick foundation of Our Savior and Transfiguration Cathedral and the remains of princely chamber has left., The monastery had been changing its architectural appearance several times during its long history. The final look it obtained during the XVI-XIX centuries.
Beside the Monastery the Museum and Reserve also includes such architectural monuments of Novgorod-Siverskyi: the Assumption Cathedral (XVII), St. Nicholas Church (1760), Triumphal arch (XVIII) Shopping malls and stores (end of XVIII).
Не смог отправить письмо по Вашей эл почте, пишу сюда. В г Новгород-Северский в храм Преображенского монастыря в 1830-е годы был перезахоронен граф Алексей Кириллович Разумовский. Сын гетмана, министр народного просвещения. И хотя у него была не безупречная биография, это он ввел Богословие в школах, это он отменил телесные наказания школьникам. В храме на стене левого нефа все годы была памятная доска с сообщением о его захоронении. Но летом прошлого года доска исчезла. Я проводил туда экскурсию из Киева – возил автобусом паломников. Спросил в свечной лавке храма и еще священнослужителя, но никто мне не смог объяснить куда подевалась памятная доска. На днях я позвонил в пресслужбу УПЦ МП, Мне ответили, что они этим вопросом заниматься не будут. Предложили мне самому узнавать в Черниговской епархии, либо в монастыре. Но ведь запрос от Управления Церкви был бы более действенен, не так-ли? Трижды писал протоирею Георгию Коваленко, бывшему советнику УПЦ МП, Дважды писал на сайт Украинской Православной церкви УПЦ МП. Все без ответа. Монастырь относится к УПЦ МП. Куда же мне обратиться с таким вопросом?
